Important things to remember prior to enrolling in a Medicare Plan:

To enroll into a Medicare Advantage Plan or a Medicare Supplement you must be enrolled in Medicare Parts A and Part B.

To enroll into a Part D stand alone Prescription Drug Plan, you must have Medicare part A and/or B.
- The Annual Election Period is November 15th through December 31st for a change for January 1st.
- The Open Enrollment Period is January 1st through March 31st . You are able to make one change to a plan similar in coverage.

- Medicare Special Need Programs are not subject to the enrollment periods listed above.
- March 31 is the last day to submit an enrollment form to switch to a new plan. The effective date for the enrollment forms received during Open Enrollment Period would be the first day of the month after the application was received.
- From April 1 until the end of the year, election periods are only available to people who are newly eligible for Medicare, or who qualify for a Special Election Period
- Special Election Period's occur between April 1 through November 14. Examples of qualifying events for a Special Election Period would be: those newly eligible for Medicare, or if a member moved out of the coverage area or state where the plan is available.
